WHOsdays; Rose Tyler (and bonus Who!!)

Rose Tyler

Rose Tyler was pretty awesome. A voracious appetite for adventure, and rather brave when you think about it. Bad Wolf.

Aaaanyway, this being the last Tuesday of the year, it also marks the conclusion of 'Whosdays'. Now, that's not to say I'm done with Doctor Who stuff (I'm itching to try a Tom Baker sometime) but it won't be at the same pace that it has been. It's a tough pace to keep up :)

But, having just seen the new Doctor Who Christmas Special, I was eager to put some new Matt Smith variations together, including a Hollywood 1952 version :) Here's to a great 2011 my friends!

WHOsdays; The Doctor (Christopher Eccleston)

The Ninth Doctor

Heh heh, I remember first seeing the nu-Who on CBC here in Canada several years back. I knew very little about Doctor Who at the time and I thought "What the heck is this? Doctor Who is supposed to have big hair and a long scarf!!"

Obviously I had a lot to learn, but having seen all of the ninth Doctor now, I'm not sure the best way to describe him. Optimistic? Tragic? Childlike? Sorrowful?

At any rate, thanks for your help bringing the ol' Doc back to us, Mr. Eccleston!

Oh, and enjoy the new Doctor Who Special this weekend!!

A new kind of Batman and Robin

Batman (Dick Grayson) and Robin (Damian Wayne)

If you didn't know, things are different in the Batman comics right now. It's... complicated. See, after a fight with Darkseid, Bruce Wayne was presumed dead, however he was just stuck time-jumping in the past. Meanwhile Dick Grayson (the original Robin, but more recently, the solo hero Nightwing) assumed the mantle of Batman and took Damian (The son of Bruce Wayne and Ra's Al Ghul's daughter Talia, the latter secretly raising him up to be an assassin and an arrogant brat) under his wing as the new Robin. Tim Drake, the third Robin, took a new identity as Red Robin and asserted that Bruce was still alive. Indeed, Bruce Wayne eventually returned to the present day and is alive and well, having re-assumed the Batman cowl. Dick Grayson however, under Bruce's blessing, has stayed on as Batman also, as Bruce (having publicly announced himself as the man funding Batman all these years) carries out his new Batman, Inc. initiative which seeks to deputize other heroes around the world in a 'Batman and Robin style mold', carrying out justice in their own parts of the world and working within Bruce's network.

I told you it was complicated :)

Black Canary

Black Canary

I wanted to get another DC Comics character out there - this time Black Canary, sweetheart to Green Arrow and perennial Justice League member.

And while we're on the subject of comics, you might want to check out Noel's blog where he does cute drawings that he calls Dawgs, parodying comics and such. He has a 12 Days of Christmas thing going on right now.

WHOsdays; Martha Jones

I always thought Martha was a smart and capable young woman. She loved being with the Doctor and traveling through time with him, but she was still able to stand on her own two feet when all was said and done.

WHOsdays; Jenny, The Doctor's Daughter

While not a 'daughter' in the traditional sense, she still means a lot to the Doctor. I mean let's face it, the Doctor isn't a 'doctor' in the traditional sense either...

It's...Gordon Freeman! Yeah! (Couldn't Think Of A Witty Title)

Gordon Freeman

I don't actually play Half Life, (or many games for that matter) but he's a much requested character, so why not?

Update - Yep, I saw that crowbar and couldn't resist :)
